This term refers to the duties that are required of a Catholic as a member of the Church. These precepts (from the Latin praeceptum, meaning "order" or "rule") include the obligation of assisting at Mass on Sunday and holy days, confessing one's sins at least once a year, receiving the Eucharist during theEaster season, fasting and abstaining on designated days, contributing to the support of the church, participating in theapostolates of the church, and so on.
